Korean Art Exhibition

A Korean Art Exhibition will be featured at the High Street Library for 2 weeks in August and is curated by Grace Choi from Star House Art and Music College in Strathfield.
The exhibition will feature artworks by members of the Association of Korean Visual Artists in Australia, Korea Women's Art Society and Australian Korean artists.
When: Thursday 9 August - Thursday 23 August 2018

ATTENTION
I would like to share some exciting news that our Star House Art and Music College experienced over the last 12 months.
What a honour it has been for our students to achieve outstanding success and meeting the highest dignitaries of our state. We met The Hon Gladys Berejiklian NSW Premier and the Governor of New South Wales, His Excellency, General David Hurley at the Harmony Day Poster Competition Prize Giving Ceremony where our students swept the awards.

Northern Sydney Regional Winner: Gina Jeon- Gosford H.S

In addition, our Art Director John Jeong catching up with Ernie Friedlander OAM the president of Moving Forward Together that organise this competition and other events. John Jeong in 2015 created the Moving Forward Together Logo.
Furthermore, Jung Hyun David Kim and Ivy Kim who won prizes for being the finalist of the Watson Christmas and New Year Card competition 2016. Jung Hyun's and Ivy's creative and fancy card will be used by Mr Tony Burke MP to send season greetings to residents and businesses around the electorate Watson area.
Julie Lee from PLC Sydney (Year 6) who won the 2016 Reid Christmas Card competition. Her beautiful card will be used by Mr Craig Laundy MP to send season greetings to residents and businesses around Burwood and Strathfield.
On the 14 September 2016 was the 2016 Korean Performance Contest Prize Giving Ceremony held at the Korean Education Centre. Each year the Korean Education Government and the The Korean Education Centre- Consulate General of the Republic of Korea organises a Korean Art and Performance competition to aim to encourage students (Background or Non-background) who are learning Korean as a foreign language or a second language. The contest aims to make learning the Korean language more enjoyable and inspiring, by providing learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and creativity to showcase their art and performance talents.
We have organised and submitted a collaborative artwork project called “Korean Feast Banquet” that have been created by Yehna Jeong (Year 6, Strathfield South Public School) . She was the leader in this project and it consisted of 3 students from Strathfield South Public School, Taehyeon Ku from Northmead Public School and two students Kelly Lee Year 3 and Julie Lee Year 6 from PLC Sydney was awarded 1st Prize and has been awarded a Primary Section Winners 1st prize in the 2016 Korean Art and Performance Contest.
James Woo Bin Lee from Regents Park Christian School was awarded equal 3rd Place in the High School Section. In addition, congratulations to Sue Choi from Strathfield Girls' High School who also received 3rd place in the High School Section.
Yehna Jeong from Strathfield South Public School who won the 2016 Jodi McKay Lunar Year Competition. Her beautiful card will be used by Jodi McKay MP to send season greetings to residents and businesses around Burwood and Strathfield. Yehna Jeong was awarded the Craig Laundry Excellence in Arts award for her outstanding achievements as a creative young arts star winning the Operation Art Competition, Harmony Day Winner, Indigenous Art Competition, selected for the Worlds Biggest Classroom program, Christmas/ New Year competitions,
Our dedicated teachers, motivated talented students and caring and loving parents all work together to achieve outstanding results. The results speak for itself! Our college students dominated ALL ART COMPETITIONS!
